Guys,
I am presently trying to improve ATLAS's Level-2 BLAS handling. Does
anyone have an application where the performance of HER2 or SYR2 is
important? I see that these routines are used in only a couple of
places, and it doesn't look like they are used on large matrices . . .
ATLAS presently supports this operation on top of GER, but this can
cause it to be slower than the reference BLAS on some platforms and
data types (same seems to be true for GotoBLAS, BTW). Right now, I know
of no reason to tune this kernel, so don't think I'll put in the effort
to tune the heck out of it, but if there are apps where it is very
important, I might change my mind . . .
