I
am having a terribly difficult time trying to figure out how to put
sequential page numbers on any kind of document. for example: I have a
29 page document and the only thing I have been able to do is put in
one number at a time. Could somebody please tell me how to put in
sequential numbers for example one through 29 in the lower right-hand
corner. Sincerely, EVA

A separate though related query - how do you get the page numbers to
start at "1" on the second page of a document?

Dear James, I truly appreciate the fact that you responded so very quickly, however, either there is something wrong with me or is there something wrong with the program. I did exactly what you said for me to do and actually I had done the same thing previously only to find out that again, I have to number one page at a time. Somehow my version of OpenOffice 3.1 simply will not put sequential numbers in any document. It doesn't matter whether I have a header or footer or whether I put in the body of the document itself, it simply will not cooperate. Clearly as I said before, if I have a 29 or 30 page document it would be nearly a terrible waste of timeme to just sit and individually number each page. Any other suggestions, please? Sincerely and thanking you for your efforts, Eugene

Those instructions should work, they work for me. Tell us what OS you are using? Can you insert the /time/ or anything else from the 'Insert > Fields >' menu?
