Help -- NetBeans 6.7.1 Freezes during Installation

Hi,

I have been using NetBeans 6.7.1 on Windows XP Professional for months, but I somehow corrupted my installation while trying to install a plugin.  After that, whenever I tried to start NetBeans, it would display a list of modules that could not be loaded and ask me to either quit or disable the modules and continue.  If I continued, then almost all of the modules would be disabled.

So, I decided to uninstall and reinstall.  However, I am unable to reinstall because the installation process freezes while displaying "Update CRC sums for update tracking files".  It doesn't advance past there.  It uses no CPU, and is performing no disk I/O.

I've tried several different versions and serveral different configurations, but all of them freeze at the same point.  Does anyone have any idea what is causing my problem?  Or more importantly, how to fix it?

In case it helps, here are the last few lines in the installation log file:

[2009-11-01 11:51:51.505]:         ... check if correct CRC sums are used in update_tracking file C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.7.1\platform10\update_tracking\org-netbeans-modules-queries.xml

[2009-11-01 11:51:51.505]:         entering -- org.netbeans.installer.utils.applications.NetBeansUtils.updateTrackingFilesCRC():240

[2009-11-01 11:51:51.505]:         saving document to xml file : C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.7.1\platform10\update_tracking\org-netbeans-modules-queries.xml

[2009-11-01 11:51:51.521]:         ... document saved

Thanks in advance.
