Help SOS

I'm getting ready to install my new electric motor lift on Rum Runner and
finally opened the box with all the parts in it today. If anyone has photos
of  their motor lift installation I would appreciate anything you could send
me. I  believe I have most of it figured out, but am looking for a few
details such as  where the electric lift button should be located. Any photo's
would be  helpful.

Rummy,

if that's the one you bought yesterday it is outdated today - imagine how
outdated it is since you bought it years ago.

call me it you can't figure it out or need updated parts.

and, if you ever do get it on, remember, you were to send us back the
transom template.

Stan,

It can't be outdated!  It is certainly a first!  It is to be installed on a

It releases the spool in case of a power or motor failure. You can drop the
 motor.

Rummy, the attached picture was of my chartplotter set up, but you can
see the toggle switch for the motor hoist on the transom, below the
motor.

Stan,

Tilting sounds good.  Could I retain the engine tiller?  Got any pictures?

Rick;

I have the tilt feature and it is very cool. It takes the prop well clear of the water and has given me no trouble. I also have the tiller mounted controls. I sit in my captain's chair and feel like I know what I am doing. Feeling like it is almost better than actually knowing.

Hi Stan,

Friday, I received the motor mount and assembled it on the boat.  Today the gentleman who had to take the motor and work on it, came to replace it and attach all the electric fittings.  He said that the motor will not go down all the way.....it goes halfway and gets stuck ....it comes up OK.
After spending 1.5 hrs he left the boat with the motor on the mount but the motor's electric wiring not attached. This will make 5 'housecalls' that he's had to make to the boat (and that I have to pay for) in the past month....3 of this due to the faulty motor mount.

I BEG of you.... PLEASE come to see what's going on when you're in Annapolis for the show.  As you must recall, Kent Island is right over the Bay Bridge.  I'll meet you any day/time you want!  I'm desparate.

Alice,

It is 11PM and I am at the office - I should be at the show - I have been up
since 2AM and will take off for Annapolis as soon as I get a few hours
sleep.   Because the economy is so deadly we have taken twice the space at
this do or die show and dragged not one but three boats up to MD.   We will
work our asses off for the 5 show days in an effort to save the business.
It took us three days to get the boats into the show.  On the 5th day of the
show they give us three hours to get all three boats out of the show at 5 PM
to make room for the incoming motor boats for the motor boat show - not
quite sure how we will manage that yet.

I empathize but physically and economically can't do a dam thing about your
boat right now.  As it was, we stopped working on the show boats to re-build
and get your
motor trolley back to you as fast as we did.   You say the motor will not go
all the way down
because it gets stuck.  Does this mean the strap was let out to the point
where it then
had slack in it so you know the trolley was not being stopped by the strap,
therefore verifying that something else is stopping the trolley from moving
down any further ?

I have owned endless cars in my day.  Whenever I had a car problem I had
to get it back to the dealer and then had to pay for every washer and every
step labor took
even if their repair work was not successful - apparently just like you are
paying for someone
who has not solved your problem.   We have not taken this business approach
with our owners
but owners have to pay a time price for that kind of unconventional service.

Bring the boat to us and we will solve the problem at no charge.

If you want us to come to the boat you will have to wait until we can find a
minute and gas money or, alternately, have Lee look at it and call me when
he is at your boat to see if he can explain to me why the trolley only goes
part way down the track and then stops.  Or have the guy you are paying,
call me.

Right now I've got to give my old bones a rest, get to the show and sell
boats and then somehow get them
all back to NC simultaneously, instantaneously.

ss
