Help with Outlook & IMAP

I am running the full courier-mta suite.  For years, all my users have
been using Thunderbird via IMAP without any major problems.  
Unfortunately, I now need to support one Outlook 2007 user.  It's
working fine except for the deleted messages going to the trash folder.  
I know there is a setting in the IMAP server to automatically move
deleted mail to the trash folder.  If I set this, will it cause problems
for my Thunderbird users which already have proper trash behavior?  I
don't want to fix my one Outlook user at the expense of everyone else.  
How does everyone deal with this issue?

I need a little help please.

 I have setup the full courier-mta suite and I created a virtual account which successfully authenticated using Outlook Express. But when I send a mail to myself as a test,

I get the message below:

 

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'alexander@...'. Subject 'Re: Testing', Account: 'Imap', Server: '192.168.0.3', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 User <alexander> unknown', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79.

 

But I successfully sent a mail to my hotmail account.

 

Is it because it is a virtual account?

Yes. This particular setting is global. However, the "problem" here will
mostly be limited to having two copies of the deleted message appearing in
the trash folder.

This error message is not from Courier.

The mail server for "socotherm-nigeria.com" is running Exim, not Courier.
