Hopefully an easy answer??

Hi,

Was hoping to get started on some ActionScript tonight and was wanting
to use the flash.* API but I have read that this only comes with the
Flash IDE. As an open-source advocate, I hate parting with cash so does
anyone know of a project which mimics the flash API?
