How Difficult to Retrieve From Archive?

I recently took over as Scoutmaster and the database needs some cleaning up.  The old Scoutmaster was the only Scoutmaster (15 years) and he has tons of Eagle Scouts and Adults still in the database that we have not seen once in the past 5-10 years.

I wanted to clean up the database and archive some of those people.  How difficult would it be to retrieve them with all the info, and pics intact if i had to.

Bryan -

Simply a couple of mouse clicks and presto they're back! If it were only that easy to physically get them back in the troop!! ;-)

Many on this site will encourage the 'printing/storage' of several reports - individual activity, advancement, etc. Do the back-up reports at your disretion, but my input would be if they haven't been around for awhile (5+ years), then let them come back with a clean slat.

Doesn't sound like the prior SM utilized the system very effectively. TM can be an AMAZING ASSET if it is maintained. Takes alot of the hassle out of managing a troop for SEVERAL people IF YOU allow them access!! Advancements, outings, you name it - share the knowledge and watch your troop take off!

Good Luck!
Sarah

Sarah,

Thank you very much.  I might do that this weekend.  The former Scoutmaster had a VERY organized database but was kinda a pack-rat when it came to data.  He did a file dump onto a portable Hard Drive for me of forms, pics and files he used as Scoutmaster...it was about 20gigs worth of stuff.  I've been going through it for 2 months and still haven't found everything.

His TM Database is very detailed but he has difficultly letting something go...like former Scouts and active Adults.

Thanks again!
