How to Keep Tree Node Navigation and Node Name on Same Line, et. al

How do you keep the tree node navigation icon and the node name on the same line? Tree1.bmp shows the initial tree with all the nodes displayed. Tree2.bmp shows a node that is in the opened state. There is a new line inserted (because of the right border?) between the icon and the node name. I wan to have the icon & node name oin the same line and use the scroll bar to see the rest of the node name.

Is there some properties I am not setting correctly? Also, is there a property setting or way to make the non-selected node name show up? Finally, how do I change the navigation icon?

I am using netbeans 6.1 and latest java runtime. Any pointer would be appreciated!
