How can track data be exported from an old Garmin GPS V? My purpose is to Geotag photographs. Any clues appreciated. Thank you.

GPSBabel supports the GPS V.   http://www.gpsbabel.org/htmldoc-development/fmt_garmin.html

The vagueness of your question makes me wonder if you're actually asking for recommendations of geotagging software.  For a list of such tools known to use GPSBabel, see the 'Geotagging' sectio nat http://www.gpsbabel.org/tips/related.html - there are definitely other tools around.
