Now I'm using W7 and the backends directory is empty. Have I missed a step during KDE installation? I tried both MPlayer and VLC backends in Amarok nightly + KDE 4.3.2. When using the first one if I add something to a playlist the player hangs and eventually crashes. With VLC Amarok crashes right at the start in libvlccore.dll (I have VLC v1.0.3). But at least I'm one step further :).
