How to get Phonon backend?

Hi,

I remember I used to have DS9 Phonon backend dll installed in my KDE
on Vista x64 some time ago. Now I'm using W7 and the backends
directory is empty. Have I missed a step during KDE installation? How
do I get it?

/Tomasz

Hi,
Anyone? I tried to google for it again but all I got was a headache.
Why does it has to be so complicated? :/ I just can't believe there's
no sound support out-of-the-box...

Take a read here (it's fresh, just discussed yesterday):

Phonon-DS9 is quite broken...

Same problem here, I believe mplayer backend is going to be present in next stable release.

Thank you, that's what I was looking for.

I tried both MPlayer and VLC backends in Amarok nightly + KDE 4.3.2.
When using the first one if I add something to a playlist the player
hangs and eventually crashes. With VLC Amarok crashes right at the
start in libvlccore.dll (I have VLC v1.0.3). But at least I'm one step
further :). Thanks again.
