How to get into the Chaotic demo [NEWBIES READ BEFORE POSTING]

Ok... recently theres been another surge of chaotic newbies who don't know how to get into the chaotic demo. So I've written up a quick guide to getting into the chaotic demo since these newbies are also too lazy to scroll down our forums to actually read the original post.

Steps to getting the Chaotic online demo working:

1. First you need to download Java, because its required to run Vassal, click the green button on this site to download Java: http://www.java.com/en/

2. Now you should download Vassal, which is found at its website: http://www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php, there is also an FAQ to assist you if you cannot download vassal which is posted on the vassal site.

3. Download the file containing the Chaotic online demo files, this can be found in the first topic here: http://files.filefront.com/Chaotic+Printable+Demo+Onezip/;8510468;/fileinfo.html%20target=

note: Make sure to save vassal and the online demo folder into an easy access area such as your documents or the desktop.

4. Oen up the Chaotic online demo folder, within should be a .htmp document with instuctions to setting up vassal and playing the game online, read that and get on

5. Play

Let's say I play the game,then I can't fin the file,but I saved It to a file,and I can't find the file,What should I do so that I can't lose the file?

Im assuming your refering to the Chaotic online demo folder and its files inside. A good thing to do is to save it to your desktop right away, this way you can always see it and I doubt it can go missing. If it does get lost simply enter your explore or search function of your computer and type in a keyword such as Chaotic, a few minuets of waiting should be enough for you computer to find it. Then relocate to your desktop/my documents.

Also, it helps to create another folder within the online demo to hold all your saved attack and location decks.

I'm at the "Installing compomnents" part.It stopped at %76,but they did say It would take a few,so I guess they aren't aren't kidding.

Well when I download something my computer atomically saves to my desktop. This can be configured in the Tools section, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. Another solution to this problem would be to simply save as onto your desktop. Or if you've already saved it you can open your OPs search function and relocate the file.

Well since I'm using Windows XP, I have a search button on the right hand side of the start menu. What OP (operating system) do you use?

I extracted the file,went to vassle,I picked the module,and It siad that the zip file Is corrupted.If I can't get It to work,I just might forget about playing the fan-made demo.

try moving everything into a folder if it has problems with a zip file.

well the easiest way would be to create a new folder, then open the zip and copy and paste it into the new folder.
