How to make flash video

I am preparing a proposal for a site that's going to contain some video.   The client is going to supply a professionally made series of video demonstrations of his product, but to tell the truth I'm not certain how we go about getting the video into flash format. 

 

Do video producers know how to make swf files of their productions? or am i expected to know how to do that?

In which case, what's involved in getting a video from mpeg or vhs into flash swf?

Hi Mike

There is a converter thingo you can download from MM

I think you can get it without getting the whole flash program, actually I think its like a big fat plug in for Dream Weaver.

I just did this for the Perth Festival... Flash 8 makes importing
video an absolute dream, you create a project then say "import ->
video", it asks you a couple of questions, then goes off and does the
whole thing for you. Very slick.

Mike,

 

Download yourself a copy of SWiSH Video 2.... seriously a no-brainer for anyone to convert mov, mpg, avi, wmv to FLV (flash video) OR SWF.

 

and the cool thing is, it comes with player control skins that output the SWF with play/pause, stop, rewind, ff buttons etc. if desired.

 

sure you can convert movies to swf's easily with the new Flash 8 video encoder, but you can't make these controls easily... that sold me on the product.

 

well worth the US$50 or so.

Studio 8 can do all this - but not for US$50

You can import flv into DW8 which has a choice of a few skins with the controls.
Or you can full it into F8 and build you own skin and controls - with the contols calling the flv functions for play/pause/...; or once again use the packaged skins

But then again - not for US$50
