I've installed k9copy, it does not seem to help me. Anyway, I prefer by far lxdvdrip. As to the perl module dvd::rip, even if it could do the job I'm afraid it's too much work for me. So, the solution is probably to buy a burner for double-layer DVDs. You can select each chapter and save it as a file. The command can be: tccat -i $DEVICE -T $TITLENUM,$CHAPTERNUM -d1 >$CHAPTERNUM.vob And then you give these partial files to dvdauthor ... and make two DVDs with < 4.7 GB. Harald Weis <hawei@...> wrote: > Launching the copy operation with k9copy yields the following result > which I've kept on disk (the original DVD is not available for the time > being): Sorry that this is getting off-topic... The k9copy main window has a Chapters drop-down control that lists each chapter with a checkbox. You would check the first half of the chapters in the first pass, then uncheck those and check the second half of the list in the second pass. This would give you two discs. -Bill -- Sattre Press Pagan Papers http://sattre-press.com/ by Kenneth Grahame info@... http://sattre-press.com/pp.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ Dvdauthor-users mailing list Dvdauthor-users@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dvdauthor-users |

Re: How to split a title ?Another inconvenient but "clean" approach would be to use play_cell from
the vamps package: Usage: play_cell [-r max-read-retries] [-i] [-g] dvd-dev vts pgc cell -i: ignore read errors -g: report cell gaps to Vamps It extracts an atomic portion from a DVD title. Usually (but not necessarily) cells correspond to chapters. So knowing the right numbers for vts pgc and cell gives you a single chapter of a DVD per invocation of play_cell on stdout. Just play around like this: play_cell /dev/dvd 1 1 1 | mplayer [-aid AUDIO] [-sid SUBTITLE] - Note the final dash to specify stdin. play_cell's output may be fed into dvdauthor as a single chapter. There may be more sophisticated alternatives (like e.g. qvamps) but this is the very very basic one. Just my 2 cents... Pardon me again, everybody, for the long silence and many thanks for all your replies. Yes, Paul, that's it. I've completely overlooked that option. Shame on me. I still haven't tried it. But I am quite sure it will work. lxdvdrip is an extraordinary software. Yesterday, I've copied title #2 of BOLT (Shostakovich) with ''lxdvdrip -t=2 -u=1 -st=vamps'', which did what I wanted except for a few french subtitles. Probably it would go over the 4.7GB limit. There are less than 100MB left free. (Replacing 'vamps' with 'copy' does not seem compatible with the '-t' option if I - finally - understand correctly.)
