I have been using rosegarden with ZynAddSubfx, and have had success, but I want to use another soundfont (I need more drums and instrument choices), and am unsure of how to get that working. Any help owuld be greatly appreciated.
I tried Timidity, but no sound...and I have no idea how to fix this, nor how to use, say Fluidsynth... Please help me!!!
P.S. --I am using ubuntu studio, and am still getting used to it after less than a year.

Using fluidsynth is real easy, at last as far as how I use it. I use a
GM soundfont called 'FluidR3 GM.SF2' (don't remember where I got it)
for quick & dirty composing and start fluidsynth *before* starting up
RG:

fluidsynth -m alsa_seq $HOME/soundfonts/'FluidR3 GM.SF2'

Rosegarden will send MIDI to it via the 'General MIDI Device' (default
studio). You can get more fancy and use QSynth if you need a GUI...
might even be a DSSI version of it. But using the command-line should
be sufficient if you just want to load a soundfont into memory and
send MIDI data to it.

When you run Timidity standalone, does it produce a sound?
