I give upDoes anyone want to buy my 78 SE? I just don't have the time or money to put
into it anymore. I'm going to list it on CraigsList in the Seattle area, if you want to take a look at it for pictures. _______________________________________________ ytriples-l mailing list ytriples-l@... http://www.cs.xu.edu/mailman/listinfo/ytriples-l |

RE: I give upHarold! I'm still down here in Orting. I'm not sure why you're giving up,
but my garage/tools/experience is available for any tripler that wants it. On the other hand, sometimes ya just need a new-ish bike... RE: I give upPatrick,
Right now, I don't even think it's drivable. I couldn't even get it there. Newish? Yeah, one that needs a paper plate for the first 30 days of getting it off the showroom floor. RE: I give upWould it help to focus on individual problems instead of overwhelmed by all
the things that need doing? Take Pat up on his offer even if you have to rent a trailer. You can get parts from the 850 in his garage when he is not looking and he doesn't drink bad beer. On the other hand, it is easy to be seduced by that new-bike smell. That smell is really money so don't be fooled. What is the latest temptation? RE: I give upLatest temptation as in new bike? I have three that I have whittled down
from about 5. A Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe, A Kawasaki Nomad, or a Victory Touring Cruiser. All cost about the same, just have other priorities first. Next year though, I am getting a newer bike, even if I have to settle for one that is a couple years old. I am looking at V-Twins, although the Royal Star is a V-4, I might even be talked into the Stratoliner. Is everyone glad I'm not interested in a crotch rocket? I am taking Patrick up on his offer, but because I live way closer to Steeley, as in maybe a couple miles away, I'll run over there first. RE: I give upTo satisfy your used cruiser needs, I'd recommend a used Roadstar.
Air-cooled V-twin, belt drive, truly huge aftermarket support, avid following, I put 26,600 miles on mine in 3+ years before getting ran over...It has ceramic nikasil (sp) lining in the cylinders, and nobody that I know of has ever worn one out yet, even with 100,000+ miles. http://forums.delphiforums.com/1602/start Pat S CBMMA #17 ISRA #5745 "Official Biker Scum" -----Original Message----- From: ytriples-l-bounces@... New models - was: I give upToday at the Yamaha dealer, I looked at a 1900 V-Twin, kind of Midnight
theme, very nice! Belt driven though. I prefer shaft, but with 2 of those thumping 950 cc jugs, that is probably asking for trouble! Very nice bike though, would fit my list! Did not see a price tag on it. Much nicer than the Suzuki Boulevard 1500! Rob -----Original Message----- From: ytriples-l-bounces@... I'm thinkin I don' wanna get anywhere near anything mechanical you have, bad juju, bro.. Glad to hear the halves are wholed again. How's it feeling? Harold just left the abode. Came in running on 1.5 cylinders, left running strong on all three. Turned out that the resistors in two of the caps were burned open, the center one was firing down the burnt- carbon residue on the outside, left one was hopeless. Don't think I've ever seen resistors that bad before. Cut off 3 screws to length and slipped them in to replace the resistors - he's got 'em in a plastic cigarette wrapper to go hunt down new ones. Also needs the petcocks rebuilt, right one is weeping and the left is seeping - looks like the floats are working as there's no evidence of gasoil(tm) yet. He/we will take care of that when there's more time. He has the classic clutch-seal oil-weep too. But, other than that (all standard maintenance stuff) it's a nice looking (and nice-sounding, now) scooter. Gave him a pencil marked up with the rear and final gear oil levels so he can make a gauge and check/change that, and we talked about some of the "features" unique to the triples. One thing he has which had me headscratching is a small two-contact plug coming out of the headlight that doesn't appear to go to anything currently on the bike. Looks like it would be connected/mounted to a gauge or something, but where it's wrapped it doesn't reach, and there's nothing on the gauges that would receive it. All the lamps seem to work (except the headlight-out indicator, but I don't know a quick way to check that when the head-lamp works, and that gauge set doesn't have a receptical for it anyway, so, as I said, I'm headscratching. It's fairly rusted so it hasn't been hooked to anything in awhile, I'm speculating the PO added something once (an illuminated .. compass??), then took it off, but I don't know the 750 wiring that well, and I didn't start digging into it. Which was just as well since his SWMBO started tugging on his cellular leash <VBG>. Anyway, he should be home now, with a strong- running scooter. Now I just gotta dig mine out of the garage (4 vehicles I have to shuffle), found out if I don't get to work early I have to park out in the back 40, whereas the scooter parking is right outside my office. Sadly, I think that's gonna have to wait for the weekend. But at least Harold is good to go for awhile. Hope things work for him so he can make CL.. -Steeley CBMMA# (wd)40 80 XS 850 Venture "Caution: Do not approach or attempt to reason with bikers. Most of them are belligerent.
