My configure fails with

checking for python extension module directory...
${exec_prefix}/lib/python2.5/site-packages
./configure: line 22916: syntax error near unexpected token `have_python="yes",'
./configure: line 22916: `AM_CHECK_PYTHON_HEADERS(have_python="yes",
have_python="no")'

Any ideas?
