IM AND AUDIO PROBLEM

Hello.  I just installed the latest MH on a Windows 2000 box.  I have setup AIM and all is well - I get a response from "what version" etc... and the "I don't understand.." message when I type gibberish, but after about 3 min or so whether idol or not, the MH user disconnects - there is no error message or otherwise in the console.  The same goes for sound - all is working fine and then a few min in - the sound for the whole machine stops working - no message.
