IMPORTANT: Change of project hosting
The lpk project will be moving to a new hosting provider shortly, and Inverse
Path will no longer be involved in the development.
Eric Auge, the original author, will continue to work on the code.
Rob and Andrea believe that OpenSSH should support reading keys from various
sources without resorting to patching the code. However, their efforts to
find a way to get this kind of functionality into OpenSSH have met with
absolutely no reaction whatsoever from the OpenSSH developers.
Rob discussed it with Damien Miller while working together at Google and
Damien agreed to look at it if Rob filed a bug on mindrot. Rob broke the work
down into small easily-auditable chunks and filed the first bug.
Unfortunately the bug has been left untouched since it was reported.
https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1348 and
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.network.openssh.devel/13942Rob also posted the full patch on the OpenSSH mailing list, with no replies.
http://marc.info/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=114785024604825&w=2If we can't even get constructive criticism then we don't feel it is worth
pursuing.
We would like to thank all the people that gave their support and
contributions to the project while we hosted it, and especially Eric Auge for
creating it in the first place and letting us work together in its second
phase of maintenance.
