Inexpensive Custom cable suppliers (overseas OK)I'm trying to find a new supplier for a couple of custom cables I need
made... Injection molded, strain reliefed, 6p6c and 1/8" jacks connectors, etc. I've gotten some quotes through some of my overseas sourcing tools (Alibaba, Globalsources, etc.), and have yet to get a quote I feel comfortable with. It's pretty bad when they're talking about opening up a custom mold for a 1/8" stereo phone plug. Evidentally the suppliers I am talking to don't have 'standard' molds for common connectors. Makes me wonder if they actually make cables at all.... So, what I'm looking for is someone who can build me a modest quantity of couple of cables involving the 6p6c connectors and 1/8" jacks, at a reasonable cost. Knowing that sometimes 2,000 cables are less than 500, I'm not really set with the quantities, but I consume between 250 and 500 a year - and would consume more if they were significantly less expensive than I'm paying now. So, I'd love to hear some recommendations for suppliers, either domestic (US) or international, who are in the cable assembly business that I could perhaps bounce these drawings off of. Thanks. -forrest -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |

Re: Inexpensive Custom cable suppliers (overseas OK)Have you tried:
http://www.cablestogo.com/ I see on their site the make custom cables, but don't know anything more. They are located Southwest Ohio. I have bought a couple of things from them, and talked to their tech support. They appeared excellent. Forrest, I think this is the kind of post you should put under [BUY], I nearly missed it. :) We have a website, www.obd2cables.com where we offer custom cable solutions. It's geared toward OBD2, but we could build your cables as well. Considering the quantities and the type of cables, I would do this more as a courtesy than to make a profit (although we like to at least break even :). The typical lead time is 6-8 weeks, but if you don't mind paying for air shipment, we may be able to get them a couple of weeks sooner. If you want, send me the drawings and I'll get back to you with a quote: vitaliy@....
