Inserting objects in a DAE while using ViewportLayers

Hello Gentlemen,

 

I am running into an issue regarding ViewportLayers and adding children to a DAE upon a user event:

 

The project breakdown consist of multiple boxes(dae) onscreen, all of which have their own viewport layer.

There also is a displayobject3D that contains multiple planes

The idea is to be able to select a box by click, the box moves up to the camera, and before the box opens, insert

the planes  into the box. The box would then unfold to reveal the plans inside.

 

The problem being the insertion part. Is this possible while utilizing ViewportLayers?

 

Intuitively, I’ve tried adding the plane container displayobject3D to the box via addChildrenToLayer. This does not seem to render any of the planes.
