Integrating Sakai with Google apps

I just ran across a post
<http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=75040&parent=334421> in the
Moodle community about the possibility of integrating Google apps into
Moodle. As it turns out, a reply in the thread points to Google apps'
support for SAML
<http://code.google.com/apis/apps/sso/saml_reference_implementation.html>.
Given that we have at least a couple of different Shibb implementations
floating around the community, this strikes me as a relatively easy
thing for Sakai to do.

I have argued elsewhere
<http://mfeldstein.com/four-ideas-for-the-future-of-sakai/> that
integrating Sakai with 3rd-party hosted apps is a good way for Sakai to
distinguish itself in terms of a unique educational value proposition.
This looks like as good a place to start as any.
