JGAP vs Apache Commons Math

Hi,

How does JGAP compares to Genetic Algorithms in Commons-Math from Apache (http://commons.apache.org/math/userguide/genetics.html) ?

I think it could be really interesting, from the community point of view, to achieve some kind of integration between both projects.
At least try to define some common interfaces or extension points to exploit the features in JGAP from Apache Commons.  It is just a vague idea.

Best regards,
Guido García

I think that someone who is not a developer of JGAP ought to answer this question.

In my opinion the functionalities of the Apache Commons Maths GA package are so small compared to JGAP that I think it is not worth comparing. JGAP is much much more than Apache Commons Maths GA package.

I have used JGAP in one of my research projects and can say that the support and documentation are excellent and I like the amount of test cases. It is something that I have not seen on sourceforge projects.

Thanks Damjan.

I have evaluated JGAP and that was also my first impression (JGAP being much more powerful than Commons-Math GA).  That's why I said to exploit the features in JGAP from Apache Commons and not in the other sense.

Maybe under the Apache umbrella, JGAP could get more attention and more people could be involved in the project development and contribute to make it even better.

Anyway it was just one idea, I don't even know if both licenses are compatible and, of course, Klaus should have the last word on it.

Regards,
Guido Garcia.
