Java Error on LaunchI'm getting an error when I try to launch SmartCVS 7 on a Windows XP
machine running JRE 1.4.2. java.lang.Error: getenv no longer supported, use properties and -D instead: APPDATA Same thing happens when I try to launch SmartSynch. I should warn you that I'm not primarily a Windows user, but I do use SmartCVS and SmartSVN on my Mac and have never had any trouble. I installed j2re1.4.2_18 on this machine, because I can't run anything newer because I'm working on an application that has to run in 1.4.2, but SmartSVN should be able to run in 1.4.1 or newer. But this doesn't even sound like a problem with the JVM being out of date. It's more like the app is using a deprecated method. I've already googled the error text, but found nothing relevant. I'm not sure what to do next. Does anybody know where the Windows equivalent of /var/log is? I can't even copy the stack trace from the error dialog. Re: Java Error on LaunchThank you for reporting this problem. Please install the SmartCVS bundle
*with* JRE. > I installed j2re1.4.2_18 on this machine, because I can't run anything > newer because I'm working on an application that has to run in 1.4.2, You should be able to tell each application what installed JRE to use. SmartCVS, for example, allows to have its own JRE in the <install-dir>\jre\ directory. -- Best regards, Thomas Singer _____________ syntevo GmbH http://www.syntevo.com "isidore_nabi" <velveteen.rabbit5@...> wrote: > I'm getting an error when I try to launch SmartCVS 7 on a Windows XP > machine running JRE 1.4.2. > > java.lang.Error: getenv no longer supported, use properties and -D > instead: APPDATA > > Same thing happens when I try to launch SmartSynch. > > I should warn you that I'm not primarily a Windows user, but I do use > SmartCVS and SmartSVN on my Mac and have never had any trouble. > > I installed j2re1.4.2_18 on this machine, because I can't run anything > newer because I'm working on an application that has to run in 1.4.2, > but SmartSVN should be able to run in 1.4.1 or newer. Re: Java Error on LaunchThomas,
Thanks for your reply. That is what I ended up doing. Turns out WebLogic installed its own JVM too. This seems to be how it's done in Windows, but I'd hate to have to update all these JVMs. Hopefully I won't need to worry about that. ________________________________ From: syntevo Support <smartcvs@...> To: smartcvs@...
