Java3D in the Maven Central Repository?Hi!
Java3D is currently in the Maven Central Repository - but only the ancient 1.3.1 release. Issue #590 was raised to ask it there are any plans to submit newer versions to the repository, but that issue is now one year old and apparently hasn't been reviewed. Are there any plans to distribute the Java3D components to this repository in the future? Thanks for providing a great 3D library! Re: Java3D in the Maven Central Repository?I think the 1.3.1 version was the last Java3D version that didn't have any JNI dependencies, which is why there are no DLL/SO/etc. files in the repository - which might also explain why a more recent version of Java3D has yet to be added to the repository.
As for how platform-specific files can be added, see these posts: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/MAVENUSER/Projects+With+JNI http://java.freehep.org/freehep-nar-plugin/ Hope that fills in some of the gaps... Re: Java3D in the Maven Central Repository?Incidentally, the link to the bug that was raised about this issue - which is still waiting to be triaged despite being over a year old is:

Re: Java3D in the Maven Central Repository?I'm not sure who you mean by WE, but I'll assume that you're referring to the Java3D project team.
At some point, someone distributed Java3D to the Maven Central Repository (MCR). This may have been the Java3D team, or it may have been someone else - that information is not public knowledge. Either way, no updates have been released to the MCR since the 1.3.1 release. The poster of the original issue obviously thought that the Java3D team ought to have first refusal on whether they wished to distribute Java3D via the MCR. As the issue had been open for a year without a response, I attempted to stir things up by posting to this forum. If the project team has no intention of making Java3D updates available to the huge community of Maven users, then they ought to be amenable to someone else doing that on their behalf. Personally, I think that that someone ought to at least belong to the project so that they are aware of new releases, can enforce quantity standards required by the team, and can automate the publishing/testing of new releases to the MCR as part of the project's release scripts (assuming that they exist). Re: Java3D in the Maven Central Repository?By WE I mean regular forum members, not Java3D team.
>If the project team has no intention of making Java3D updates available to the huge community of Maven users, It appears to be so. RE: Java3D in the Maven Central Repository?Hi,
In my experience the Java3D team has been very helpful when community members want to contribute to Java3D. Can I ask what is required to make it usable in the Maven Central Repository?
