Researcher - Information Spaces for Creative Conversation (ISCC)

A one year fixed term appointment based at the University’s flagship
campus in Hendon, north-west London. As a member of the JISC
funded ISCC project team in the School of Engineering and
Information Sciences, you would conduct research research on novel
technologies to support small group, face-to-face collaboration, with
a particular emphasis on designers and those learning design. This
would include working with stakeholders to define requirements,
prototype development, empirical studies and evaluations, and the
reporting of research findings.
Travel to meet with collaborators and to attend national and
international meetings and conferences will also be required.
You should have:
– a Masters level degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent
relevant
experience in a field relevant to the project (e.g. human factors, HCI,
possibly as a part of another subject, eg computing)
– a substantial ability to communicate complex ideas to colleagues and
clients, verbally in person and by phone, and by email
– demonstrable ability to organise, manage and conduct empirical field
studies of technology in use in collaborative situations
– demonstrable ability to conduct usability studies and evaluations
– the ability to deploy web, video and similar technologies
– good organisational and time management skills, especially an
ability to
occasionally work apart from colleagues,
– fluency in spoken and written English.
Salary up to: £28,941pa including Outer London Weighting
