Principal Researcher / Team Leader, User Experience and Design
Description
Nokia Research Center (NRC) is looking to recruit a Principal Researcher or Team Leader for the User Experience and Design team that focuses on new human practices and societal trends leading to mobile user experience prototypes and interaction
guidelines. The team balances theoretical user experience research with practical research-through-design and prototyping projects. Our ideal candidate is a respected member of the global research community of the corresponding area and has the capacity to
bring and lead new research topics in the areas of new user interfaces and mixed reality experiences.
In this role your responsibilities will include initiating and creating research ideas and contributing to research work, actively pushing research results into new innovations, and taking leadership in defining research questions/ideas.
We will expect you to coach others and help develop new competence that enables expansion into new research areas. You will also contribute to NRC strategy as a representative of your research area. Widely recognized in the research community, you will represent
Nokia in key forums relating to your area of expertise.
NRC Tampere focuses on the future interplay of rich multimodal content, context and the user, building on world-leading research in media signal processing, mobile user interface technologies, personal content and context experience.
Qualifications
To take advantage of this unique opportunity, you have a PhD and a strong track record in publishing in scientific journals. We will also value your demonstrated ability to translate theoretical user experience knowledge into practical design
solutions. With 10-15 years of relevant experience behind you, you are an expert in more than one research domain and have a broad perspective. You've also had the opportunity to gain experience in leading or working in multidisciplinary research teams.
Success in this role requires a talent for building trust-based relationships and entrepreneurial and commercial thinking. You also have to be capable of motivating your team to aim for extraordinary achievements and committed to enabling
the growth of the business, the team, and the individuals.
