Yes, reboot after finished ripping 5 songs...but i'm only restarting virtual machine, i'm using Sun's VirtualBox in my test PC...i've been ripping 5 midi's at a time since 2 weeks ago...thanks to deep freeze and VirtualBox

Moonreflection also can't fix misspelled words in Filipino songs :-(

I hope you can find a way to extract midi in Karavision Cd.
Please share some Filipino songs if you can...please please please...

Karavision CD have more latest English and Philippines midi karaoke...currently it has 10,692 songs
including different languages.

Unfortunately, this is more difficult than I first thought. I know where is the problem. But it's a long way to get there, because the dvd2midi is based on the address of a song (not the ID). So I don't know the address of your song ID. I can't fetch your song. The only way to find the address is to use toc2db. But it has been too long since the last time I touched toc2db.

I think moonreflection has just built his codes and he should be able to fix that easily, just need to create a new 2nd mask for Tagalog.

I'll fix that later. I'm planing to rewrite toc2db to make it using unicode properly.
In the meantime, I'll look at those new "puzzles"

hi bigboss,

i was able to extract some filipino midi karaoke using your program DVD2MIDI...

the problem is, there are some misspelled words in almost every line. i think errors only occur in Filipino songs.

i attached a sample of kar files extracted form California Electronics DVD using your program, i also included some text file with the correct lyrics for you to compare.

I have noticed that there are no errors extracting Filipino songs listed in English List like "AKALA KO'Y PARA SA AKIN", "AKING AMA" and "AKO SI SUPERMAN - REY VALERA" ...I think only songs Listed in Filipino and Spanish have misspelled lyrics...

I have noticed also that English songs that were listed in Philippines Collection have misspelled words too. Try to extract 219269 - Sk8ter Boi and you will see what i mean, and this one 219138 -SOMEDAY WE'LL KNOW.

Generally, we need more than one file. Please provide all small files as well. Make sure the video file is NOT included. Zip them all.

The routine only extracts ~90% of songs successfully. But I've never had the situation of missing lyric.
I'll try the song and let you know.

After a long break. I finally release decide to release my program and now trying to experiment with this. Since my player is still broken. Do you have trouble extract some songs properly? Some song I get the lyric and midi but some I got only midi and no lyric. I tried song number 830352 and get no lyric.

I didn't know there's silent follower on this site. I always think people come to find a solution here. If they find one they are gone. If they can't find one they migth stick for sometime until giving up, then they are gone as well. Nice to see you here :-)

Unfortunately, we are stuck again. My work is still at the same spot, i.e. I could only read the lyrics. Since currently I don't have access to the player itself I can't patch data to understand more. But even if I could it's still very hard because you really have to LISTEN to the data you modified.

What you can help...
Do some experiments: patch the MIDI data and tell us the out come. Then we can start guessing :-)

I've got one more idea, but this requires modifying the program codes...
I'm thinking... IF the mask is depends on the song stored on the disk (due to number of songs) then it's possible that the same song could be masked differently in two disk versions. This is purely speculating (and hoping) :-) I took some samples, they are same on 2 disks :-(
To do: modify the code to run through many song pairs and see whether there's a pair using different masks. Since we know to read the lyric mask it's possible to do that. BUT if the the mask is song specific then we are stuck at the same spot hahaha...

Suddenly, I've got the idea that the MIDI part properbly using another mask. Then I started looking at recurring pattern using masks 00-ff. I found a pattern of some 3 bytes and 7 bytes groups:

and I also found that if I use the lyrics mask XOR 0x0e then I've got the mask for that pattern.
These are only based on 3 songs. I might be wrong.

I'm not aware of a TLIST file. As far as I can remember my findings work for v35 as well:

I could find the section of song data for each song.
I could unmask the lyrics.
Only missing the MIDI data.
I've done all these without TLIST
