Key Managment

I ame testing the latest gpgmail from today.  It seems to work. But...

Back in my active security days, I knew how to use Windows, PGP and public key servers in the signature verification process. With my transition to Mac OS, I am now confused about the relationship of gpgmail, gpg, and public key servers.

When I try to verify a signed message I get "Missing Key 0x<keyid>.  What should be the next step to relate this to a published key?  Point me to a document, Please.

On another seemingly trivial point of documentation.  Don't forget first-time users. The bundle should at least come with a readme that says something like "Place this bundle in <path to where>. Install either gpg or gpg2. Logout and login is probably beneficial after these steps." Maybe also note the difference between how gpg-agent is started for each of the two versions of gpg.

This message signed using gpg and the latest gpg-mail.

Thank you, Lukas.

Hi,

GPGMail uses gpg; it contains no code for PGP itself. Thus all options set in gpg are respected by GPGMail.
There is an option in gpg to search for missing keys when verifying data; it is off by default, so you should enable it -see gpg man page.
About the missing doc: as a lot of coders, I don't like to write doc ;-) I spent time already to write the web pages, but if you want more, you'd better ask someone else, and I'll be happy to integrate new doc to the site; any volunteer?
For the installation, well, I wrote an installer for official releases, but never distributed it for beta releases; you'll have to wait for the official release to get an installer.
Development is open, everyone can contribute :-)

Regards,

Stéphane
