Some of you may have been aware of some recent, good news for OPEIU, Local 30 members, after reading the OPEIU, Local 30's most recent newsletter (which is mailed to each members' home each quarter) and which some may also be aware of after reading the latest "White Collar" (also a quarterly newsletter published by the International OPEIU office). Although both the National Agreement and the OPEIU, Local 30 Agreement with Kaiser have been completed for quite some time, there was an agreement to continue discussion in regards to Call/StandyBy Pay rate. And, after many years of the issue not being resolved to the satisfaction of many members of OPEIU, Local 30, it appears to no longer be an unresolved issue. As stated within the 'White Collar', "The agreement raised the call/standyby pay rate from $4 per hourto one half of an employee's regular hourly pay, or $10 per hour maximum effective July 3, 2006. On October 1, 2007 the maximum goes up again to $12 per hour. All employees effected will also be paid retroactively on all hours spent on call/standby pay status back to July 3, 2006."
Yes, Walter deserves a thumbs up for this accomplishment.
