LMMS feedback October 6, 2009Hey guys!
Some feedback. I apologize if some of it has been reported already. I am using git version, 0.4.90 1. In piano roll when you right-click on space that has no notes, it has to clear a selection - so if you've selected some notes and copied them, in order to deselect them you should right-click on the piano roll, just somewhere where there are no notes. Currently: in order to remove selection the only way is to put a note somewhere. That deselects the selection, but you have to delete this unnecessary note. 2. Automation (event editing) - it would be nice if right clicking and dragging would allow you to produce a straight line. 3. In song editor I see no way to select a group of tracks and copy it. I can select, but I do not understand how to copy. If this functionality is not there, it should be. 4. When you copy notes from one BB pattern to the other, the notes do not show until you close the project. Maybe this is something that is a temporary thing of the git version, but it certainly makes things difficult. 5. When you play an instrument with a keyboard, changing volume envelope does not affect playback. It works only if you put notes into piano roll or a BB editor - at least in audio processor. 6. The Gate bug in LB302 - if you lower the gate to lower than 7%, it goes to 100%. 7. Audio processor, with which I work a lot, does not open all mp3s - sometimes it would open an mp3 as noise. The mp3 are small files and there is no obvious difference between files that do open and those that do not. Examples can be sent, I am not sure that it is ok to attach them to the mail list. 8. In song editor it would be good to duplicate a track WITHOUT duplicating the blocks of the song editor. Often you need to duplicate a track to add a variation, but you absolutely do not want it to be placed in same places. In fact, I would argue that the clone function as it is now is not very handy - this duplicating of the blocks is not necessary - duplicating the track itself with all the notes in it is enough. Re: LMMS feedback October 6, 2009#7 is my fault - I am responsible for mp3 support. Can you send me an example or two of the mp3s that cause the error?

Re: LMMS feedback October 6, 2009I found this draft in my box. I don't know if it was ever sent.

I guess you are explicitly talking about the AMT knob? I haven't tried to reproduce this yet. (My MIDI setup is non existant at the moment) > 6. Any suggestions on how this should be? I'm rewriting song editor currently. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! segments within a multiple tracks? copying the segments within a multiple tracks. you can select them and move them, but not copy. ;) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! Re: LMMS feedback October 6, 2009I plan to incorporate making straight lines with right-click in piano roll.

Re: LMMS feedback October 6, 2009OK, well the new song editor already has a totally different
selecting/moving model anyways. So, perhaps it is easy to fix for our current editor, but I probably won't look at it. Re: LMMS feedback October 6, 2009I think the reason I made it shift-click is because right-click was
already taken for delete. I guess delete can be moved to middle click, that would make it more consistent with the other editors. Louigi, Stefan: The shift-click is documented on our wiki, http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Key_Mappings#Automation_Editor -Paul ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! Re: LMMS feedback October 6, 2009Middle click? Middle click delete for what? I am a bit confused: in the even editor you do not delete anything %)

Re: LMMS feedback October 6, 2009Louigi:
I mean: Middle-click already deletes in the piano-roll, the song-editor. In the Automation-editor, right-click deletes. I suggested to move the delete to middle-click so it is consistent. And, so that right-click is free for drawing straight lines. On another note, Andy K. and I drafted out a proposed default keyboard mapping for the future versions. I think he is moving that to a wiki article sometime soon. In this proposal, right-click is always delete. So, for the automation's straight lines, this would have to be moved back to middle-click or shift-click. However, maybe we will have a vector-based editor by then and it won't really matter. -Paul On Thu, Oct 15, 2009 at 1:18 AM, Louigi Verona <louigi.verona@...> wrote: > Middle click? If you delete a portion of the event editor, it should prevent any changes during that time, leaving it at whatever the last event or initial position was. for instance if you dont clear the event editor and instead just set it to zero, then editing a knob by hand wouldnt work, the value would always be zero. -- rezonant long name: William Lahti handle :: rezonant freenode :: xfury blog :: http://xfurious.blogspot.com/ site :: http://komodocorp.com/~wilahti ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us!
