I've created a publication using "defaultfiredocs" publication as a template. While publishing the first page of publication i.e. homepage, I get following exception:

Exception during commit or rollback: null (see logfiles for details)

log4j.log gives:

java.lang.NullPointerException
    at org.apache.lenya.cms.site.tree2.SiteTreeRevisionVerifier.eventFired(SiteTreeRevisionVerifier.java:33)
    at org.apache.lenya.cms.observation.ObservationManager.notify(ObservationManager.java:88)
    at org.apache.lenya.cms.observation.ObservationManager.eventFired(ObservationManager.java:101)
    at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)
    at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39)

Is your publication still working ? Or do you now get an error like [Latest revison loaded] is not true! ?

I that case there is something wrong with sitetree.xml and sitetree.xml.rcml.

The files are located in the live and authoring area oft the content folder in your publication.

The revision numbers of the highest entries of sitetree.xml and sitetree.xml.rcml must be the same.

If not please remove the higher entries and restart Lenya.

I saw this error after I tried to rename or change the visibility of a checked out document.

3 days ago I fixed this in the current 2.0.X branch. But maybe there is an other case when this happens.

Was the document checked out when you tried to publish your page ?

It's just a like the default publication with the firedocs editor
build in.

Thanks for your detailed answer. On our intranet we have enabled the
checks and have no performance problems. But I think when we'll
migrate our Internet presentation to Lenya 2.0.x next spring it might
be a problem, so I would leave modules-core/sitemanagement/config/
menu.xml as it is and remove the entries in menu.xml from the
publication.

Very interesting ! Is there a faster way to move documents up and
down in the sitetree? Some of our users wish to have a better solution
as the step by step moving.

"expensive precondition checks" I do remember. When the menu is loaded,
the enabled/disabled status is determined when the page is drawn.
Changing the node id requires that it and all of its children are not
live. I also think it might require that it and its children are not
checked out. It might also require that any of its descendants aren't
checked out. On deep trees that is a pricey check. Such checks are done
for many of the menu items.

It would be nice to move to an AJAX menu that checks if actions should
be allowed when the menu group is selected. I know there was at least
experimental code to make this happen.

I really don't know if the synchronization is important or not. It is a
performance problem. It may be best to find a way to reduce the usage of
flow scripts in high use pages. Which pages/types did you find this to
be an issue with?

This happend also if the visibility of a locked document is changed.

Flow script performance issue

I am using lenya 2.0.2 (cocoon-2.1.12-dev) and I made some performance tests with jmeter utility. 50 users in the same time walking through a lenya site - that's my jmeter setup.

ok, I now see that Firedocs is distributed under the Apache License 2.0

(IIRC it used to be based on GPL or was it always the Apache license 2.0?)

is downloaded everytime anyway and I think it's actually good to have it

ant maven also works offline ;-)

well, I am offline quite often though, although I recently flew Delta
and they had wireless at 30K feet which was quite amazing though,
so agreed it becomes less frequent, but I know companies which have
"offline builds" as a requirement (in the case of emergencies), because
if the internet is not accessible, they still want to be able to rebuild
and use it

You save minor maintenance tasks, e.g. checking for fixes and
deploying the xpi.
@Michi: the current version of the build script hangs offline too.

Given that offline time of most people/machines is limited these days
I would go with the change I suggested.
But if you prefer to ship the module with a copy of firedocs.xpi
that's fine with me too.

I don't think the script should be changed if it makes the build hang.
But maybe I misunderstand something or rather Rudolf can explain
in more detail what happened exactly. As mentioned before using
something like Ant-Maven does work without problem (offline and online)
and I don't understand why the Lenya dev community is hesitant to
introduce something like this, because it could save a lot of trouble
and bandwidth ;-)

I figured firedocs.org uses quite some bandwith due to lenya builds.

missing table border

Hi,

I’m using Lenya 2.0.2. I’ve created a table in an HTML document, but this
table is shown without any border.

I’ve tried to add a border by editing the attributes of the table element. The
attribute editor tells me that the table element uses the “ornate” class.
However in my opinion, the table doesn’t look very ornate without a border. Is
this missing border intended, or is there something wrong?

Lenya 2.2 uses Maven. I'm using Cocoon 2.2 and Maven for a project at
the moment; it has some advantages but IMO it can become pretty tricky,
especially when 3rd-party version incompatibilities occur.

Thank you Rainer. I do suspect that a fix very similar to that one can
be used due to the very similar nature that TinyMCE and FCK work. I'll
try to find time this week to test and apply a fix.
