HDMI gurus speak up pleaseI have HDMI-out on my laptop and I want to export some animations and
videos to my hard drive recorder. Does anyone know of an HDMI to RGB cable? I think perhaps the PS3 has one, but I don't to buy it just in case it has some proprietory wiring and doesn't function like a normal HDMI cable. In general the answer I get is WHY? Why would I want to degrade the image? Well because I just want a low res copy (720 x 576) of the videos to record easily on my domestic HDD recorder and send to my parents. RE: Let's Make GameJam! (next Tuesday, 28 April)Happy to host the event. I don't know if its worth mentioning that the campus is next to the Claisebrook train station (Armadale line). Also the staff car park at the rear of the campus (entrance at the corner of Fielder and Kensington streets) is available to anyone after 5pm. I will book the Lecture theatre and the presentation room next to it in case you want to use them. No problem with making three labs available and can increase that if necessary. Re: HDMI gurus speak up pleasewhen you say rgb, what connection do you mean? If you mean the three coloured cables, it's component which isn't actually rgb, and doesn't have a converter. The component cables for the ps3 use the analog video out on the machine, not the hdmi port.
Easiest way would be to find a laptop with an alalog video out. Converting hdmi to analog doesn't really exist, at least from what i've seen. 2009/4/22 Andy H <andyhawkins@...> I have HDMI-out on my laptop and I want to export some animations and videos to my hard drive recorder. |

Re: HDMI gurus speak up pleaseI use a HDMI to DVI cable to view my laptop on a monitor, i'm sure there were HDMI to Analog as well, i got mine at my local computer store, http://www.comwiz.net.au/shop_item.asp?StockCode=CBL-LEM-200-0770-2 , thats the product there, and then you could possibly use a DVI to analog converter.

Re: HDMI gurus speak up pleaseOh, that's composite video your looking at. The sound is easy, you can
pick up a minijack (computer speakers & headphones plug) to RCA (the red & white) cable for cheap at Tandys or similar. HDMI to composite would be harder, I can't think of anything to do it directly off the top of my head. I'd say your best bet would be to record the animations on your laptop, then transfer them to an older laptop with analog video out (the round plug), which is easy to get a composite plug for. Anyway, good luck with getting them transfered.
