LichesHi there,
I'd been playing Nethack for a while and wanted to try Slash'em for the excitement of all the new monsters and items etc. So far I'm finding it much harder, which is a good thing! One major problem I'm having, though, is Liches. Nothing I do seems to touch them. At the moment I've got a Valkyrie two weaponing a blessed Excalibur and a blessed silver sabre, and when i hit a Lich it just tells me that my attack didn't seem to harm the lich. Meanwhile they're summoning all kinds of things and cursing my stuff. Any tips? |

I looked up "lich" in the slashem bestiary for you. The result was at http://slashem.crash-override.net/bestiary/lich.html There it says: "needs +2 weapon to hit". You need to be enchanting your weapons. If your Excalibur was at least +2 then your attacks should have worked. The weapon enchantment is both a to-hit bonus and a to-damage bonus. Now normally your #enhanced weapon skills, plus Excalibur's artifact to-hit bonus, would let you hit anything! But slashem added the "needs +n weapon to hit" restriction on a few monsters, so you have to enchant your weapons. This is one complication that vanilla nethack players never worried about. But if you had hit, then the fact that you had a second weapon and they both were blessed should have caused extra damage to that annoying undead lich. --Kernigh http://nethack.wikia.com/wiki/User:Kernigh ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Slashem-discuss mailing list Slashem-discuss@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/slashem-discuss |

Re: LichesYep, that would have been it, it was a long time before I managed to identify the enchant weapon scroll. Unfortunately I somehow managed to get myself butted to death by a mastodon in a zoo of some sort, they hit HARD! |
