Linear Rails, Leadscrews, etc. (UK)Evening All, Just wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of a good (and cheap :) supplier of precision rail, leadscrews, ballscrews, etc., preferably in the UK ? There seem to be tons of suppliers out there, but for some reason nobody likes to publish prices, so ringing around is a job in itself :( The US sites seem a lot better at this, but after shipping they just don't seem that cheap anymore... I'm only after small quantities (to build a few prototype/hobby CNC machines), so obviously minimum order quantities need to be taken into consideration. B2B and B2C suppliers are fine. Any suggestions are appreciated. Cheers, Pete Restall -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |

Re: Linear Rails, Leadscrews, etc. (UK)Hi Peter
I've used Kevin Marchant ( www.marchantdice.com ) and he's pretty good. Responds quickly to questions and sends stuff out quick. He also trades a lot on Ebay. RE: Linear Rails, Leadscrews, etc. (UK)Hi Peter,
look in www.igus.co.uk http://www.igus.co.uk/wpck/default.aspx?pagename=drylin_n they have very expensive stuff, but the rep came to where I work for a demo and when I talk to him about the need for a linear bearings for my home made CNC machine that did not break the bank, he showed me the DryLin system. they have a very low cost type which he send me a sample that will definitely do the job and is only as a rough quote around £60 per axis. this for rail and bearing cushion, probably even less. the one he send me was the one on the right(the wider rail) on the first pic on the top of second page. Ask them for a sample. Best regards Luis -----Original Message----- From: piclist-bounces@... [mailto:piclist-bounces@...] On Behalf Of Peter Restall Sent: 04 February 2009 18:28 To: piclist@... Shipping isn't excessive, but check what Customs would do if you order. Note that they're bloody hard, so you'll need access to a hefty lathe (or grinding rig) to turn the ends to size for mounting. The supplier can sometimes do this for you. Tony -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist |
