Linux -Ma option

Andres,

In Linux, with the -Ma option, are either/both of the following required:

-+rtmidi=alsa
hw:1,0

I assume the first but not the second (or a variation of it). Is this
correct?

I also assume that whenever MIDI is used in Linux, the first is either
required or advised. ?

I use the following in <CsOptions> -+rtmidi=alsa -Mhw:1,0

but before launching csound I have to create raw midi ports with the commands
(without these no way to have midi work):

modprobe snd-virmidi
aconnect 130:0 20:0

(take a look at jackd connections to understand what you have to connect) and
everything works.

Hi Art,

You need to specify the MIDI rt module (-+rtmidi=alsa or
-+rtmidi=portmidi) and then specify the device -Ma, which is valid for
either one.
Depending on your alsa, you may also need to do what valiste suggests.

Cheers,
Andrés

Thanks, Andres.

As soon as we get 5.10 working either on OLPC *or* SoaS, I'll report back
what is required on those (Sugar) systems. (Both systems won't take 5.10
yet.)
