Long duration Eclipse in Full Moon Cycle
Dear Calendar People
I made a list of start dates for Full Moon Cycles beginning with a large full moon at http://www.the-light.com/cal/kp_fumocy_starts.txt .
As expected, this long solar eclipse that has recently occurred did occur in the middle of one of these full moon cycles, when the full moon is at its smallest and hence the dark moon is largest in apparent size. The current Full Moon cycle in the list is 28 December 2008 to 13 February 2010. So the eclipse occurred on the 207th day of this 412-day full moon cycle, which is one of its two middle days.
For more about the Full Moon Cycle see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_moon_cycle . My list reckons its cycles from the unusually large full moon of 21 December 1999.
