A PRAIRIE FALCON was seen flying over Calabasas on November 1. A NORTHERN “YELLOW-SHAFTED” FLICKER was at Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena on October 31. A LEWIS’S WOODPECKER was seen in San Gabriel at the intersection of Longden and Del Mar Ave. on November 5. It was last seen on a telephone pole behind 520 Del Mar Ave. HAIRY WOODPECKERS were at Veteran’s Park in Sylmar on November 3 and at Juan Bautista de Anza Park in Calabases on November 1. A TROPICAL KINGBIRD was in Culver City on November 5. It was fisrt seen near the north end of Lindberg Park, but was moving through the area in company with Cassin’s Kingbirds. Continuing at Lacy Park in San Marino was a GRAY FLYCATCHER, seen through November 3. Also at the park was a presumed HOODED ORIOLE (although Orchard Oriole could not be ruled out) and a HERMIT WARBLER. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Neff Park in La Mirada on October 31. It was seen south of the barn. At the Huntington Gardens in San Marino a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen on October 31. It was seen near the south border of the gardens behind the restrooms. Another CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was at Valhalla Cemetery in Burbank on November 4. This bird was near a red brick building along the north edge. VENTURA COUNTY— A ZONE-TAILED HAWK was over Filmore on October 30. Three LEWIS’S WOODPECKERS were reported along Canada Larga Road at mile three in walnut trees on November 3. Four more were in sycamores on Santa Ana Road, about .6 mile north of Highway 150 near Filmore on October 31. A SAGE THRASHER was along Arnold Road at the curve north of the parking area.
