Hello!
Can Hercules be teased into talking to an instance of Microsoft's probably
forgotten about
(by them) SNA Server? I can provide more later.

Depends upon what you mean by "teased".  There is support for
configuring SNA (really Token Ring) in the LCS OAT.  However Token Ring
would require some support that is not really implemented (not to
mention all the host hardware implications of Token Ring), specifically
source route bridging.  SNA though can be run over Ethernet and that
might have a higher degree of success.  Define a HWADD in the OAT for
the port you want to use for SNA.  The Microsoft SNA Server and VTAM
would both have to be configured for SNA over Ethernet.

Its not forgotton, just renamed "Host Integration Server"

http://www.microsoft.com/biztalk/en/us/host-integration.aspx

But I am sure you are refereing to a copy of the "Tradional" SNA server.
Well its really not a "server" more a multi-protocol gateway.

Some of the lower layer connectivty wouldn't work (yet) so you can't at
present do SDLC to Hercules even if you could find an SDLC card that was
supported by Hercules. I guess it might be possible to use token ring
support but thjat would need a more modern VTAM I think.

However I also seem to think that the really old SNA server would talk via
3270 coax so I wonder if you could do screen sessions via a 3270 card into a
3174 with TN3270 and token ring....

I also wonder if it could be persuded to talk DLC over Ethernet. There used
to be drivers for that in NT3.51....
