Jeff, I've tried this, but when I try to run apache-install.bat it says :

C:\ms4w>apache-install.bat
The system cannot execute the specified program.
The service name is invalid.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2185.

Sulchan,

Thanks for testing.  When I upgrade I usually: 1) execute
apache-uninstall.bat before extracting, 2) extract the new MS4W, and 3)
execute apache-install.bat.   What steps did you do exactly?

I did this :

1. execute apache-uninstall.bat on c:\ms4w
2. rename c:\ms4w to c:\ms4w-old
3. extract the new ms4w to c:\ms4w
4. execute apache-install.bat on c:\ms4w

and then the message came out :

C:\ms4w>apache-install.bat
The system cannot execute the specified program.
The service name is invalid.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2185.

Is it just me ? FYI, I run windows XP on VirtualBox.

My guess is that your machine doesn't have the "Microsoft Visual C++
2008 Redistributable Package" runtimes installed on it.  Try this and
let me know what works:

- before executing apache-install.bat, execute setenv.bat (this should
load the msvc*.dlls into your path, which are located in
/ms4w/apache/cgi-bin) and then retry apache-install.bat
- if all else fails, you can download the runtimes installer from
http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en

Let me know if either method works...and I will update MS4W's readme
accordingly, with your results.

I've done more testing on an XP virtual machine that does not have the
Redistributable Package installed and I can replicate your error.
Install this package and the error goes away:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

This will be added to the README for the next release, and you can add
yourself to the ticket and comment/follow:
http://bugzilla.maptools.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2093

Thanks for the feedback.

Hello,

You are missing a template file, which you refer to in the WEB object of
your mapfile, such as:

   WEB
     ...
     TEMPLATE "../htdocs/viewer-template.html"
     ...
   END

If you want to see this in action, download the MS4W addon package
"MapServer Itasca Demo Application" from the MS4W downloads page.

Hello,

You are missing a template file, which you refer to in the WEB object of
your mapfile, such as:

  WEB
    ...
    TEMPLATE "../htdocs/viewer-template.html"
    ...
  END

If you want to see this in action, download the MS4W addon package
"MapServer Itasca Demo Application" from the MS4W downloads page.

i can't convert shp file to mysql,

C:\ms4w>ogr2ogr -f MySQL MySQL:a,user=root,password= -lco GEOMETRT_NAME=SHAPE c:\ms4w\apache\htdocs\trial\peta_tab\a\a_region.shp

ERROR 1: MySQL error message:The used table type doesn't support SPATIAL indexes
Description: ALTER TABLE `a_region` ADD SPATIAL INDEX(`SHAPE`)
ERROR 1: Terminating translation prematurely after failed
translation of layer a_region (use -skipfailures to skip errors)

i don't have any clue about that.

I don't really know, but I would read the MySQL OGR driver page
(http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_mysql.html)...which mentions the spatial
index and creation options.
