MacOs and hidden files

Hi,
I'm new to MusicBrainz. I have a problem with the tagger, when I load a folder the application loads me also the hidden file made by the system (for example ".song.mp3").

What can I do?

Thanks
Greg

I'm on a Mac, too.  What hidden files is your system creating?  If
they are .mp3 files they will be added to Picard (assuming that's the
tagger you're using) when you drag the folder onto Picard.

Yes I use Picard. My files are on an external HHD, when I add a folder to Picard, it loads me also hidden system files like "._01 Black in Black.m4a"!

How were these system files created?  I've got my media on an external
drive and I've never seen hidden system files like that.  What are
they used for?  I'd be tempted to just delete them if they were on my
drive.

They are hidden files made by the OS X system I think.

I think these are what this page refers to as "resource forks":
http://www.bresink.com/osx/193281/Docs-en/Files.html (about half way
down).

I believe it's related to the creation of .DS_Store files. Is your
external drive being indexed by spotlight? Mine is not, and I don't
get these files created on my server.

Sounds like your external drive is not formatted as HFS+?  Possibly Fat32?

Yes Windows formatted, I used this terminal shell:

find /Volumes/MyHDD -iname "._*" -exec rm -f '{}' \; -print

and it deleted all my "._" files.

Perfect!

Thanks
