Make VNC Viewer start as a serviceI am curious as if there is any way that VNC Viewer can be started as a service in Windows, most importantly in the listening mode. I currently have to manually open up Viewer on each pc from start/all programs/tightvnc/tighvnv viewer then click on listening mode to start it to make it possible for LAN remote connect session to be possible. This is bothersome.I am wondering since VNC service can automatically start in windows, then shouldn't viewer be able to do the same?

RE: Make VNC Viewer start as a serviceQuade,
If you're OK with logging on to the system in question then the simplest method would be to copy the VNC Viewer (Listening Mode) Start Menu shortcut into the Startup folder, so that it starts automatically each time you log on. As a service I don't know but you can probably use the standard "StartUp Programs
folder" in the "Start Menu".

Re: Make VNC Viewer start as a serviceI successfully got tight vnc viewer to start up with bootup on windows xp by following your instructions to copy the VNC Viewer Start Menu shortcut into the Startup folder. I appreciate that! :) I still have to manually click on the listening mode button on the new connection screen in order to start listening mode. There is no start menu shortcut for vnc viewer with listening mode enabled that I can see, only just the vnc viewer which I copied to startup above. Is there any way I could alter the shortcut or any other workaround to force listening mode to start automatically when viewer loads? . thanks

you have to use the command line options, in my case they are:
/8bit /shared /belldeiconify /listen /encoding tight /compresslevel 9 /quality 0 /dotcursor
/noremotecursor

Try to edit the shortcut and add /listen option to the command line. Running vncviewer.exe /help will list all the options available. -- With Best Wishes, Constantin ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us!
