> I've tried booting with the latest tmb and normal desktop kernels,
> 2.6.32.1 and 2.6.33 rc1 and under both kdm doesn't start, or rather I
> get a blank screen of X loading with the mouse cursor in the middle, but
> also a non-blinking underline cursor in the upper left corner. The
> mouse busy thingy spins a second, then the mouse disappears, then
> reappears, as if kdm is having a problem starting and is reloading a few
> time.
>

I have got ATI r200 gfx-chipset and I have got very silimar situation.

After last night update my computer suspend during booting or after
veeery looong time show GDM - I can type login/pass but after start
load of any gfx-enviroment (Gnome, Ice, ...) after about 10-15 sec
the x.org do reset and back to GDM.

Next - this is *even* with old kernel 2.6.31 that always work OK!

I suppose there is any problm with both "init" and "X.org"
> >>
> >> I have a Nokia E61, it's work with Mini sd card, so i have one
> >> Mini sd => sd adaptator . If i send it in my card reader, cooker
> >> don't mount it. i have just the "light" one second.
> >> nevertheless, i can send one classic sd card, and no problem .
> >>
> >> i can mount this adaptator with my live xfce usb stick .
> >>
> get a blank screen of X loading with the mouse cursor in the middle, but
> also a non-blinking underline cursor in the upper left corner. The
> when i tried to run xinit after stopping the dm service, the system hard
> fwiw, the bootsplash works either way, and KMS seems to be working. I
>>>
>> We are talking about two different things. I am talking about a user
>> reading a full wiki guide before he reports a bug, so that his initial
>> report is complete and doesn't require asking more questions from the
>> maintainer. What you say still requires action on your part asking the
>> user for more info. And again the same question, how many John Doe's
>> are gonna read a wiki page to report a bug?
>>
> The point is not to make mandatory to read anything before being able to
> report a bug, but to have a single entry point for documentation if needed.
>
>
>> There's already http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Software_Crash
>> so it seems most data is already available, just needs to be
>> grouped/linked in/from one page.
>>
> Absolutly, that's my point.
>
> Instead of a gazillion list of pages, as
> - http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Bugzilla
> - http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Software_Crash
> - http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Triage_Team_-_How_to_triage_bugs
>
> I'd prefer a single one, with a name consistent with others, such as for
> instance http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/BugReporting
>
>

i agree, althought the name should be

http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Bug_Reporting

because of the new wiki policy. i would consider also a sort of wizard that help to fill bug and gives randomly useful infos.
> report is complete and doesn't require asking more questions from the
> maintainer. What you say still requires action on your part asking the
> user for more info. And again the same question, how many John Doe's
> are gonna read a wiki page to report a bug?

The point is not to make mandatory to read anything before being able to
report a bug, but to have a single entry point for documentation if needed.

> There's already http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Software_Crash
> so it seems most data is already available, just needs to be
> grouped/linked in/from one page.
Absolutly, that's my point.

Instead of a gazillion list of pages, as
- http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Bugzilla
- http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Software_Crash
- http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Triage_Team_-_How_to_triage_bugs

I'd prefer a single one, with a name consistent with others, such as for
>>>> I am not with or against any name, it doesn't matter much. A
>>>> dedicated page "How to report bugs" can be created, but I don't
>>>> think a lot of new/newbie users will read it in the first place.
>>>>
>>>> Maintainers can communicate with triage team and detail what kind
>>>> of info they need, so we can ask the questions for you before
>>>
>>> i think it does matter, instead. it's proper in marketing side that
>>> mandriva should improve and take care about also small particulars
>>> that all together are important.
>>>
>>> i propose to create a wiki page ("How to report bugs" is ok) and
>>> give a link to it in bugzilla before submitting a bug.
> Please, not yet another individual page.
>
>> Bugzilla's front page already includes a link to this page:
>>
>> http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Bugzilla
>>
>> Perhaps that link should be more prominently displayed.
> Indeed, but this page does not have any logical connection to the others
> page linked to bug handling, such as
> http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Triage_Team_-_How_to_triage_bugs
>
> Hence my point than there should be an organised section on the wiki
> about reporting/triaging bugs, rather than a list of individual pages.
> And one dedicated team to manage it, with a clear name.
>
> That's what we already have for packaging, for instance:
> --

Hello!

I have announced it in Mandriva Forums, please note that I have uploaded
a second revision of my Moblin LiveCD supposed to be optimised for
netbooks. It contains sensible improvements.

If you are interested, you can submit me tests, comments, requests or
advices to help me improve this LiveCD. I'd in fact like to have some. :)

ftp://mandrivafr.org/pub/moblin/

2009-12-20 21:26 Skiper (alpha revision 2)

        * Rebuild of the LiveCD
        * Fixing bug in in Mojito where Flickr would not appear (missing logo) , still need to find how to fix Facebook.
        * Fixing DrakXTools that would not be correctly installed and would not launch first boot configuration.
        * Fixing gfxboot (Plymouth) not being displayed in graphic mode on small screens (changing mode vga=788 to 785) (from Wobo)
        * Fixing icon theme who was falling back on gnome theme for gnome applications : now moblin icon theme is used everywhere.
        * Added OpenOffice.org Writer and Calc, trying to find why Impress does not want to install itself
        * Added Pidgin in addition to Empathy
        * Added File-roller and gedit utilities
        * Added hclGUI and an icon to start it (on request)
        * Added extra icons to access some features more quickly, remove some useless ones.
        * Adding new Moblin welcome image in Draklive live installer
        * Removed Firefox web browser (there is already Moblin's web browser)
        * Removed useless drakxtools : drakconnect, drakroam, draknetcenter, drakauth, drakhosts...
        * Modified MandrivaUpdate : there are now only the name and version columns
>
> netdisco is a network monitoring/analysis/reporting tools. It use
> SNMP/CDP to find IP/Mac address on cisco/HP/... devices.
>
> I can't imagin you're able to such software w/o reading the
> a dedicated SQL server.
> (Finally, it seems to not work, I get login page but after login httpd
> don't stop running using 100% of one CPU, but never end the resquest).
>

It uses spanning tree so you need good hw. I once ran it on a MAN with roughly
300+ devices, it was nice (years ago, using my mdv packages). But the
bootstrap script seeems broken now. Earlier you could just install mandriva,
urpmi netdisco, then run the bootstrap script and point to one spanning tree
capable device, wait a little while and you were all set.
> Description :
> This package provides a browser for MHEG5, which is used to make
> user interface on TVs.
> It is part of the redbutton tools suite.
>
> Olivier Faurax <ofaurax@> 20091202-1mdv2010.1:
> + Revision: 480480
> - Missing xsltproc dependency
> - Added libpng-devel dependency
> - Added libxft-devel dependency
> - Suitable dependency for 64bits
> - Missing libxrender1-devel dependency
> - Patch for lib64swscale support
> - Added missing libexpat dependency
> - import redbutton-browser

Wrong versioning.
This should be named like
this redbutton-browser-0.0-0.20091202.1mdv2010.1 same goes to
redbutton-download, also you dont pass mdv's %optflags and %ldflags.

Would be nice if you have fixed this.
> Yes I agree with this part :)
I don't think duplicating post-installation documentation is a good
idea, nor than using package description for this. README.urpmi files,
on the other hand, are perfectly suited for this.
