Hi, i've recently read an article talking about menus usability, but
don't remember where :S
The fact is that i agree with the author when he said the File menu is
overbloatted. For example, i think the name "File" for that menu is
wrong taken in gucharmap. Here, file menu only has one item which is
close; but you're closing no document, you're closing the app itself,
or even the window.
Another example would be nautilus, where under the file item, there
are the new tab and new window items.
IMHO, the users can feel confortable with this layout, but i think
it's wrong and confusing.
