Metasonix Options (and Wanted)

Hi all

Im loosely considering getting a Metasonix Wretch:

But, it looks like you could get most of the sound via their modules if you
don’t mind adding in a few bits of Doepfer.

Wretch consists of: (@ £2440)
VCO x 2
Waveshaper
Filter
VCA
Env x 2
LFO x2

Metasonix Modules:
VCO R54 @ £275
Waveshaper R53 @ £275
Filter R52 @ £275
VCA R51 @ £275

Question: if I get a single R51, R52, R53, R54, along with some Doepfer
Env’s and LFOs, would this give me most of the sound of a Wretch?  Could I
skip, say, the R51 VCA and replace with a cheaper VCA and still have the
sound?

I have never fancied a modular as I know how lazy I am about gear but, if a
modular approach works out cheaper than a Wretch, I might consider it..
