Microsoft Money is Dead - Could we be the backfill app for it?

Sorry for the two-parter.

This isn't really a programming/bug note, but I was wondering how much effort it would take to have Makefile /w qt4 libs (perhaps w/ cygwin?) build a Win32 version of KMM?

If it were possible to make binaries at some point, it would be trivial for me to make a package manager for it.

MSFT announced a short white back (couple weeks ago) that MSMoney is getting phased out.  That would mean a lot of the US banking info used for OFX might one day not be updateable anymore [the other repository for this is OFXBlog].  Since MSMoney users can export to OFX anyway, it shouldn't be that hard to get MSM data out and push it into KMM's database, but I haven't tried.

Has anybody given any thought to expanding KMM's platform reach (and userbase) out now that MSMoney is going to disappear from the marketplace?

Part Two:

I'm sure some of you already use Mint.com which is a very good web based aggregator for seeing financial data that KMM cannot reach without file imports/exports (credit cards, store cards, auto loans, P2P lending, etc)...   I've been trying to plead with the Mint project to provide some sort of API so that Mint.com transactions can be retrieved over XML, and then I could write a XSLT to convert it into OFX format so the OFX plugin can bring it into KMM.   So far no luck.

When KMM is ported to KDE4 it will be comparable low effort to create
a native Win binary without cygwin and stuff. Just an exe. Thats one of
the benefits of the KDE4 platform.  The maintainers of KMM surely
decide how and when they want to support that.

I am interested in that. What do you mean by "make a package manager
for it"? Can you elaborate?

Thanks,

Klaas

Here is a thread on the forum, back when the news broke out.

As Klaas said, once the port to KDE4 is complete, it would be a very little effort to make it work in other OS.
