Minor windows issuesHi,
I notice in v3.0.7 that there are some odd things that happen in the GUI. These are probably already known but just in case... 1) Selecting direction, or logging options, or logging enable/disable no visible action takes place until another click in the window. 2) In Compile and in Install windows selecting 'None' has no visible effect until another click in the window. 3) With Compile and with Install windows if "Finish" or "Cancel" is not pressed window is never closed. It's possible to have any number of these windows open. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not but it seems to me these windows should be modal i.e there should only ever be one and it should be on top. And whilst I'm thinking about it but on a slightly different subject; why can policy tables not be deleted? Or specifically why can I not delete ipv6 tables which I created out of curiosity but don't need? Re: Minor windows issuesthe (1) and (2) sound like a bug. Does anyone else see these problems ?
As for the (3), the compile/install dialog is not modal so you can have it open and inspect your rules at the same time. The program currently does not make the effort to restrict the user to only one such dialog. So the behavior is by design. On the other hand, it probably makes sense to restrict to only one such dialog. I'll add this to the list for v4.0. I think this is rather minor issue so it can wait till next major release.
You should be able to delete Policy rule set object. What happens when you try (you did not explain) ? If the context menu item "Delete" is disabled, this happens when the policy rule set is marked as "top". You need at least one top rule set of each address family. Uncheck the checkbox "Top ruleset" in the dialog of the ruleset object and the context menu item will become enabled, letting you delete this ruleset object.
However it should let you delete the second ruleset object since you already have one. I'll add this to the list of things that need to be fixed in v4.0 --vk On Sun, Oct 25, 2009 at 12:52 PM, Dick Middleton <dick@...> wrote: Hi, ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! It's even more exciting: If you select act= "Accept" or "Deny" when there are no icons under "Options" for that rule then the options icon appears temporarily, until you click again somewhere on that rule, whence it disappears. Must be Halloween :) Dick ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! I understand the logic of this - make sure any results are visible to the user - but agree that it is irritating when all went well. Maybe a configuration option "close automatically" with a sub-option "on success only"? > And whilst I'm thinking about it but on a slightly different subject; why can > policy tables not be deleted? I seem to remember having the same problem, but all I had to do was uncheck "Top ruleset" on the policy... I do think there should be only be one window though. >> And whilst I'm thinking about it but on a slightly different subject; why can >> policy tables not be deleted?
