Missing LastFM patch in Emms?Hello, In this posting: [http://20y.hu/20081217/listening-to-lastfm-in-emacs.html], Gábor Török says he is using tsdh's Emms to play LastFM because it has some extra patches not in "mainline" (for lack of a better word) Emms. Is this true? If so, why aren't those patches in "mainline" Emms? -- "Cut your own wood and it will warm you twice" _______________________________________________ Emms-help mailing list Emms-help@... http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emms-help |

Re: Missing LastFM patch in Emms?Hi,
i also use my own patched version of EMMS for lastfm, because the patchs have never been submitted, especially to use emms in anything with globals tags (music type) and similar artist. Oh, and I don't have my emms repo on my server anymore, and my local one doesn't have any differences compared to the mainline. But I recon I did some refactoring/adaption to new lastfm API some time ago. So we have to contact him as soon as possible to get those changes. > Is this true? If so, why aren't those patches in "mainline" Emms? Sorry, I think I wanted to give the new implementation a test drive before asking Micheal to pull, and then I forgot about it and deleted my repo on the server to make things even worse. I really don't know what drove me to do that... I rocon I changed the implementation to work with the submission protocol version 1.2. But that's in the mainline git repository. So I really cannot say what Gabor has what's not there. I know that the global tags radio is broken. But currently the API is not documented, so we'd need to look into the official client. > That way, anyone who wants to improve Emms' LastFM support will have a > clue. In the meantime the submission protocol has increased to v1.2.1. The docs are at http://www.last.fm/api/submissions If someone wants to adapt emms, it would be great. Emms with protocol 1.2 is working again here :) ,---- | Protocol 1.2.1 is backward compatible with 1.2. The only change is an additional, optional, handshake mechanism to allow | third-parties to use Last.fm web services authentication to create new scrobbling sessions. `---- -- A + Thierry Volpiatto Location: Saint-Cyr-Sur-Mer - France _______________________________________________ Emms-help mailing list Emms-help@... http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/emms-help |
