Missing MenuBars & ToolBars in KWord

I have just upgraded from Slackware Linux 12.1 to 13.0 with the concomitant
version of KDE. I am trying desperately to find the MenuBars and ToolBars.
I've read through the Help.It tells me how to use them but it doesn't tell me
how to find them. Ithink there's a bug.
It sure ain't KDE 3.5.9!

You have a broken kword installation, neither in kword 1.6.x nor it kword 2.x
it is possible to enable/disable the menubar, it is always displayed.
