Mobile OpenID support?

Does anyone have some pointers to mobile sites that use OpenID?

For example i can log into LiveJournal using my OpenID on a mobile but only through the desktop browser interface - the LiveJournal mobile UI [1] [2] doesn't seem to support OpenID.

Looking for some sites that support it as part of their mobile UX.

many thanks,
steven

You mean, "mobile" in as sense of "mobile handset app"?

Then, I do not know....

Hi Nat.

Yes - seems to me a big win of OpenID could be a simple UX on mobile
devices.

I completely agree. Many people seems to use OAuth for this purpose,
but OpenID should be capable of doing it as an Authentication Protocol proper.

We need a sample flow on a target platform so that we can "reality check."
What mobile platform are you having in mind?

I've written about OpenID in mobile apps (specifically on the iPhone):

You might check out Dopplr on the iPhone — which uses OAuth and allows to signin via OpenID through the web browser (currently the only practice that supports OpenID in non-browser software).

In my case i can identify a mobile device and present a mobile UI and the round-trip works as per the normal flow. I can't imagine this needs to be any more complex than this so long as the OP supports mobile sign-ins and preferably directed identity ... the only issue is that you need to ensure the server is fully up to date to detect the mobile headers in the http request, but other than I would think that works well.

Yes, where possible, an OP should try to provide an interface designed to fit the user's user-agent. If they're coming from a mobile device, it does make sense to provide a mobile-optimized experience.

I know certain providers do a terrible job of this and it really kills the OpenID experience.

Vidoop actually did a pretty good job on their iPhone UI, but of course they've gone out of business. Still, some screenshots persist:

In any case, providing an appropriate UI for the platform is pretty critical, IMO.
