That will tell you pretty accurately. Anything later than June 1978 is almost certain to be a 1979 model. I'll check my 1978 when I get home from work. I think it is pretty close to your serial number, but I haven't looked in years. It was originally either Macho Maroon, or Black/Gold in color. It would fall into the listing that begins with 1J7300xxxx . About the 4th listing down in the chart on the website. I bought it new in April of 1978. I have the "Macho Maroon" paint job with color matched Windjammer fairing and Windcutter hard saddlebags. I wonder if anybody here has an earlier one.
